the Newark National Building - The Jewel of Newark
Neo-classical office skyscraper, The National Newark Building stands as the tallest building in Newark at 466 ft. Designed by the father and son architectural firm, John H. & Wilson C. Ely, which also designed Newark City Hall and the American Insurance Company Building. The exterior is mainly tan brick and limestone. The interior ceiling is lined with 24k gold. The top of the building is inspired by the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, one of the Seven Wonders of the World. The ten mezzanine murals by J. Monroe Hewlett and Charles Gulbrandsen depict the growth of commerce in Newark.

The City of Newark is the largest city (by population) in the U.S. state of New Jersey, and the county seat of Essex County. One of the nation's major air, shipping, and rail hubs, the city had a population of about 277,222 in 2010, making it the nation's 67th most-populous municipality, after being ranked 63rd in the nation in 2000. For 2015, the Census Bureau's Population Estimates Program calculated a population of 281,944, an increase of 1.7% from the 2010 enumeration.
Newark Office of Film and Television
The Newark Office of Film + Television (NOFT) is the official film office for the City of Newark, NJ. Its mission is to facilitate and promote opportunities for film, television, web production, education, jobs, and access in Newark and/or for Newark residents.
NOFT aims to help make Newark a world-class center for film, arts, culture and entertainment.
HISTORY: SAVvy MARKeting Entertainment Group, LLC (SMEG) was formed by owners Savoy (SAVvy) Walker and Mark (MARKeting) A. Forrest. They were prompted to start their company under the guise of then-aspiring artists who were in dire need of guidance and honest managerial representation in the entertainment business.

YOPAT INC. is a not-for-profit youth media arts and technology enrichment center founded in 2006 by SuSu Stewart; with a vision to empower youth through multimedia arts education and to meet the demands of the community for after-school programming that helps prepare young people for the digital and technical future. With the experience and expertise of YOPAT’s staff in education, multimedia, production and business management, within a year, the team successfully developed the organization from a two-person operation to one that now has staff of 10 and close to 50 young participants.
Greater Newark Convention Center
The Greater Newark Convention and Visitor Bureau is the official destination marketing organization for the cities of Newark and Harrison, New Jersey. We are committed to promoting and marketing the assets of the region generating economic development and creating new jobs by increasing the length of stay at area hotels, increase per capita spending in the tourism sector, as well as attracting new events, meetings and conferences to the region.

The Newark Downtown District
The Newark Downtown District, Newark's special improvement district of the central business area, is a privately funded 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, dedicated to revitalizing downtown Newark by improving the economic viability of the central business district.
Newark Black Film Festival
Since its inception in 1974, the Newark Black Film Festival (NBFF) has become known among its peers as the longest running black film festival in the United States. Throughout the years, it has continued to provide a progressive public forum for hundreds of emerging writers, directors, producers, performers and film buffs who enjoy African American and African Diaspora cinema.
Newark Symphony Hall enjoys a long and rich cultural history as New Jersey’s oldest and largest showcase for the arts, education and entertainment programming. This multi-facility edifice was built by the Shriners, a Masonic order, in 1925 and known as the Salaam Temple. The façade is quite imposing with its massive Ionic columns and the interior is elegant with its sculpted marble designs with gold-leaf ornamentation in the Greek and Egyptian styles.
The Short Film Awards
The Short Film Awards, affectionately nicknamed The SOFIES, was born out of a love for the special art form known as the Short Film. Due to its brief nature, the Short Film genre fosters an unmatched spirit of creativity, resourcefulness and independence that inspires, stirs and transforms. SOFIE seeks to bring the segmented short film community together to honor, support and enjoy the best work in Short Film.
